Split
Apart from its tag of Croatia’s second-largest city, Split has the Roman empire’s imprints that come alive in every tourist season. That also includes sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, and epic seafront resorts.
Must See
Marjan Forest Park
Situated at the left tip of Split, this park is occupied with shady trail paths, pine forests, and the 16th-century cemetery for Jewish people. You will also find chapels and other scenic cave dwellings while taking a long evening walks with your family or friends here.
Diocletian’s Palace
This Roman ruin dates back to 305 AD. This building used to be the most important ones when Roman rules here, amongst others on the Adriatic coast. It also has a military garrison. But now this palace has become a place for shopping for local things like clothes, souvenirs, and fancy artifacts.
Temple of Jupiter
Again, this has been a Roman temple dedicated to the King called Jupiter. However, there is a statue of St. John where once Jupiter’s status was built. In fact, this temple was made in the 13th century out of the recycled stones, which is another wonder on its own.
Cathedral of St. Dominius
If you are looking for evidence for the world’s oldest Catholic cathedral, then this is the one. The entrance and the interiors of this cathedral will give you an experience of a life that was back in the 4th to 5th centuries.
Bene Beach
Located inside the Marjan Forest Park, this beach is a perfect choice for families to bathe in the sun and have a great day out for kayaking and boating around in the local streams. With less crowd, this pebbly beach is also one of the top choices for young families or couples.
Bacvice Beach
On the southern side, it’s the famous beach for nightlife and morning and afternoon swimming around in the Adriatic Sea. It has local bars and seafood joints nearby to pass the time with amazing sea views.
